John Haswell

Drama Development Officer for Shetland Arts, has worked in theatre since 1980 as an actor, director and facilitator. As a director he worked with companies such as 7:84 (for whom he was associate artistic director), Wildcat, The Byre and Cumbernauld. His main expertise is in Youth Theatre and large-scale community productions. He has always written for the stage, often in collaboration with other writers. Many of his scripts have been for youth theatre companies and many (Thinimage, Paint Yer Bum, Shaking Hans, A Tale of Beatrix Potter, A Tale of Two Cities, Caged Dreams, The Trip, Dracula, the Happy Prince) have been performed by more than one company, both in this country and abroad. He wrote Killing Games, a large-scale community production for the Shetland branch of Amnesty International. He has had work professionally performed in Cumbernauld and Glasgow and devised work seen in Copenhagen and Berlin.
