James Sinclair
b. 1961, Lerwick. James works as an engineering storeman and was previously a welder/plater for 25 years. He began writing poetry in his forties, and enjoys the challenge of writing either in dialect or English. Published pamphlet of poems: Gulf Stream Blues, North Idea, 2007. Poems also published in the New Shetlander, Shetland Life, New Writing Scotland, Lallans, Pushing Out The Boat and in a couple of publications from Hansel Cooperative Press, Mailboats and White Below. James is one of the facilitators for the Lerwick Writers Group, a trustee on the board of Shetland Arts Development Agency, a member of the Shetland ForWirds committee and of the editorial committee of the New Shetlander.
James's poetry collection, Yarnin, was published in 2018 by Bluemull Books, and a further collection, Sheeksin, in 2021.
His play Da Sam Rodd Wir Ancestors Drave was broadcast by BBC Radio Shetland in 2018.
