Basil R. Anderson

1861 - 1888.

Born in Unst. He was a pupil-teacher at Baltasound school. His father was lost at the haaf-fishing in 1866. In 1878 the family moved to Leith, where Basil did clerical work. Broken Lights, his collection of poems and letters, was published after his death.

Broken Lights was re-published in 2021 by Michael Walmer, as the second volume in the Northus Shetland Classics series, with a new Introduction by Robert Alan Jamieson.
