Valerie Watt
b.1975, lives in Lerwick, where she was brought up. She is a secondary teacher with a young family. While a pupil of the late Dr Tom Anderson, she learned not only how to play the fiddle, but a great deal about Shetland folklore. Published: Da Peesterleeties an da Curse o da Njuggle (2005), and Peerie Mootie an her Muckle Buits (2007). She wrote a dialect column for bairns in Shetland Life magazine until 2011. Bobby an da Burland Pearls was published in 2010. The musical based on it was performed for the public in July 2010, after a successful run for school pupils.
