George P.S. Peterson
b. 1932, from Papa Stour, still has a home on the island though also lives in Brae. Former English teacher, well-known story teller and writer, authority on local history and folk-lore. Published: book of poems Hairst Blinks ower Papa (1965, reprinted 2003). Also: poems in collection Draa dee up, du’s welcome; poems and stories in New Shetlander magazine; and a booklet on the coastal place names of Papa Stour. Aald Papa, I’m Dine (2009), a new collection of poetry and prose, shows the range of George’s writing.
